All wood, all good.

Isn't this Danish home fantastic? Wood for miles, polished concrete floors and gorgeous big windows. And yet, so tricky. I love all the little nooks, secret areas and built in lounge spots.

And all the wood! The walls & ceiling are covered and it reminds me of a library/den of an  old house, but updated. The natural light in this home is beyond amazing and even with all those straight modern lines, it's quite cozy.

Don't you agree?!

The Ordinary House, part 1: Modern Barn-ish Exterior

The Ordinary House, which I fell in love with when I found it on the blog Nordic Design was designed by the Swedish Firm, In Praise of Shadows. While located in Sweden, this home could easily be found in the countryside outside of where I live in Portland, OR.

The exterior of this home has an interesting contour yet has a very familiar quality to it. Lived in & barn-ish.  I like that and love how it blends in with it's surroundings in the woodsy, lightly landscaped location.

And? The exterior is dark, just like I was talking about last week.
Next up: the interior  of this home. It's a stunner.

Inspiration: Modern Homes with Dark Exteriors

I've taken notice of the beauty of modern homes with dark (near black!) exteriors - they're stunning and offer such a prominent contrast to their surroundings.

Also? Each of the 4 inspirational modern homes I've collected utilize the use of vertical materials, siding, etc.  I love the texture & shadow the black & vertical lines create. At this point my home does not need to be repainted, but if it did.... !
