House&Hold is a home interiors shop with a heart for Scandinavian inspired modern living. The H&H Blog is chiefly written by Co-Founder Summer Robertson.
Did you catch this? A Design Milk Friday 5 with Matt Eastvold! I love Matt's collection of favorites, especially the Saab.
Friday 5's offer a great glimpse into what makes designers tick, their inspiration and love for what they do. Matt is a genuine guy and I love his outlook on both life and design.

I am always impressed by those who can achieve an amazing level of depth using a limited monochromatic black & white color palette.
Not so easy! Without the depth, a monochromatic white-walled room can give the impression of that non-cohesive 'just moved in' look. Oops!
I've gather 4 inviting bedrooms, in black & white that have a lovely depth and level of thoughtfulness. My favorite is number 2.

Kalon Studios is a talented furniture design studio that is well known for their incredible & eco-friendly nursery furniture. But did you know that Kalon has dining furniture as well?
True! I adore the shape & space the Isometric Table's legs create and the Isometric Chair is such a graceful compliment. The table is available in several different lengths to accommodate your crew - seats from 4 to 10 people.

Oh geez! Eastvold recently sent over new lifestyle photos of a few of their tables. Amazingly awesomeness, right? If you have a thing for solid walnut you'll pretty much want to marry both of these coffee tables. Today.
Take a peek at the rest of the new Eastvold lifestyle images, here!
It's been a good week - new Eastvold pieces in the shop! Hooray!
Eastvold has made some updates to their current furniture collections as well as introduce a couple new pieces for 2012! The Elko Credenza now has a little sister: the Small Elko, as well as the Classic Side Table (available in 2 heights -- night stand perfection!?).
Oh, you know I totally have an empty spot next to my bed for one of those side tables!

We are so very excited and honored to partner with Modernica, manufacturer of the Case Study Fiberglass Shell Chairs originally designed by Charles Eames.
With the original Eames designs, using authentic materials and traditional Eames methods each Fiberglass Shell Chair is made by hand by Modernica, the same way it was first manufactured and remains made locally in Los Angeles, CA.
And while the Herman Miller chairs look similar, the only legit aspect of the official Eames Shell Chairs that are manufactured (in plastic, yikes!) is the name "Eames". The name! Herman Miller does not follow the exact profile design of the base as designed by Charles Eames (as shown in the image above) but adds a whopping 5.5" to the Case Study Eiffel base! That's crazy, right? Read more, here.
Modernica, however has remained true in their production of the modern Case Study Shell Chairs and is the only manufacturer to do so in fiberglass. And their process is fascinating! You can view an amazing video which gives a candid glimpse into the manufacturing process. Such amazing details go into the production, just as the Eames' intended. Modernica also utilizes all of the original presses and specialized equipment obtained from Century Plastics, the first manufacturer of the Eames Case Study Shell Chairs in the 50's.
Shop the entire Shell Chair collection design by Charles Eames which includes the Armshell Rocker, Dowel Leg Shell Side Chairs, and Eiffel Base Shell Chair.
New to the Mash Studios collection: the PCH series including 8 very loft-style pieces including the PCH Dining Table and Bench, shown above.
Not considering I'd have to dramatically increase the square footage of my dining room to accommodate the grandiosity of the Dining Table, I think it's lovely. Big, not bulky and totally perfect for big family dinners. The PCH Dining table easily seats 8, though I love the combination of the chairs & bench.
And the wood? It's warm-toned & beautiful.
It was an exciting moment to discover O&G Studio's daring collection of furniture! It, in one steady breath, completely eclipses the boundaries of what modern design is.
O&G's furniture designs are a reflective, compelling blend of details, American made sustainability and craftsmanship. Designers & makers, Sara and Jonathan have fused their respective backgrounds as a jeweler & set designer and the results are stunning.
Their chairs, stools & tables exhibit traditional designs, beautifully updated and available in an array of trendsetting colors. While I keep waffling on which one is my favorite (too hard to choose!) I do love the Atlantic Table Height Stool -- the detailing on the legs is hot!

With great joy (& loads of excitement!) we debut the newest brand in our House&Hold catalog, Jason Lewis Furniture! While Jason Lewis has been designing, building & selling through his own studio for years, House&Hold is his first online retailer.
It's evident that Jason Lewis truly enjoys making furniture. Design & built exclusively through his studio, each piece is thoughtfully considered and made of hardwood using age old techniques, creating a collection of modern furniture with true heirloom quality.
I love the intuatuve quality of each piece. The lines are graceful and thoughtful, leaving you with the feeling that each piece is made just for you. Which of course, I am pretty sure the rocker was made just for me, easily my favorite!
Which piece is your favorite?

I once had an eager thought of selling the sofas in our living room & replacing them with numerous rocking chairs. Monte, to be exact. So I am thrilled to now have Monte in our catalog of furniture & wares on House&Hold.
Monte has a stunning & clever collection of signature rockers & gliders in addition to a few other nursery pieces. The rockers & gliders are so well designed, in fact, that you need not have a baby to enjoy a Monte glide or rock. And if you do have a baby, Monte will surely outlast the nursery years. My favorite is one of their newest pieces, the Joya Rocker. Charcoal grey upholstery with a walnut base, to be exact!
