This chair is designed by Afteroom, which is the duo from Taiwan consisting of Chen-Yen Wei and Hung-Ming Chen. They operate from their design studio based in Stockholm and are inspired by an interest in materials, cultures, senes, forms, and proportions. They strive for an entirely new version of simplicity with a clear and unwavering aesthetic vision.
"The Afteroom Chair is a tribute to Bauhaus as well as functionalism. Material quality and design simplicity are the important things to consider. We strive to design something that has clean lines and is minimalistic without sacrificing comfort - a challenging feat. In the same vein, we were inspired by classic Scandinavian features", says Hung-Ming.
The wooden flexible back support and seat have rounded details and provide a contrast to the solid steel frame. The designers have paid such attention to detail that it's difficult to tell which is which when looking at these Scandinavian Dining Chairs.
