Audo Peek Floor Lamp

Jonas Wagell, a Swedish designer, made the Peek floor lamp as a complement to a sofa that he designed some years back. The design is humble, simplistic and somewhat peculiar.

As stated by him, "I perceive floor lamps to be big and overwhelming in the interiors most of the time. I was after a smaller humbler lamp that just pops up where you require a bit of light. The Peek lamp features a slender and long stem and heavy base, allowing it to peek gracefully from behind an armchair or sofa."

The shape and profile of these Scandinavian Floor Lamps are mimicked in the Peek table lamps which are smaller. The floor lamp serves as ambient lighting for the room or as a reading light over the sofa. There is a dot at the top part of the stem which is sensitive to touch and has the function of a dimmer.

Explaining the design, Jonas Wagell states: "Even though the form is mainly functional, I thought it is essential that the lamp has expression and personality. My focus is to design simplistic products that could be understood easily and are intuitive. Basically, the Peek lamp is made of three sections: stem, shade, and base. The form is stripped to the bare essentials and it gains an iconic expression.
