Both believe in being more appreciative of small joys and living in the moment. As fate would have it, they stumbled upon the Danish word hygge just as they began to discuss a way to share this concept with others. They love the way that it simply yet profoundly captured what they were trying to achieve in their own lives. The name Kalon is derived from the ancient Greek concept of ‘to kalon.’ To be kalon is more than being beautiful; it is having a beauty that both is and inspires excellence. For the Greeks, this meant a beauty linked with moral worth and usefulness. For us this means making products that aren’t only beautiful in form but beautiful in concept as well.
Kalon Studios believes that true beauty radiates from the whole but has its roots in the details and so from their hardware to our motifs, from our raw materials to their finishes, they laboriously handpick each element so that it too, alone, is kalon.

U.S.A. grown 100% premium wool, Handmade in the U.S.A.
We use Premium French Merino sheep's wool grown in Colorado and Wyoming. Their wool is very soft and not itchy, offering a cozy, comfortable feel for all our products. This carefully selected wool is used in all our products, which are handmade in Southern California.
Wool being a nature made material also releases negative ions into the body which build up, strengthen and energize it. It is also a temperature regulating material which allows the wearer to maintain a comfortable body temperature.
100% wool knits, without synthetic additives, are extremely hard to find and it was in my own fruitless search for them that I decided a product such as this should be on the market and thus Modern Wool was born.
The original design, the authentic material. In 2000, Modernica revived the potentially lost art of high-pressure, molded fiberglass. Modernica creates each shell, by hand, one-by-one, in their Los Angeles factory—just as they had been designed, developed, and produced by the Eames Office, in Southern California in the 1950s. Modernica uses all of the original presses and specialized equipment obtained from Century Plastics. To ensure authenticity of production, the initial shell chair production was overseen by Sol Fingerhut and Irv Green, the same team Charles Eames employed over sixty years ago to develop the original technology.
Modernica is committed to the legacy of the authentic genuine design of Charles Eames. Modernica creates each chair with the charge of adhering to the original tactile qualities, texture, and characteristics that alone are unique to the fiberglass shell chair.

Thomas Paul was born and raised in New York City. He got his start in the fashion business working as an intern at DKNY in the mid-nineties after, graduating from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Textile Design. While working as a colorist and designer for a silk mill specializing in neckwear and scarves, he worked on neckwear collections for such designers as Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, and DKNY.
This eventually led to the creation of his own neckwear collection, digities, in the late 90′s. From this was born the start of the thomaspaul pillow collection, launched in 2001, which was originally conceived of as an idea of utilizing the silk printing mill’s capabilities for home accessories instead of personal accessories. Since then the line has steadily expanded into other categories apart from silk pillows to include tabletop, stationery, and lamp shades. The ultimate goal being to have products covering every aspect of the home, all with thomaspaul patterns gracing them.
Thomas Paul Rugs
Thomas Paul's concept is simple. The design concept is to mix unrelated historic design styles - art nouveau, 60's pop art, 70's minimalism, 18th Centurn Baroque - and reinterpret these disparate periods into a unique style with a coordinated color palette that works with today's interiors.
